Roots & Shoots

Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots inspires and empowers young people to join a generation of Janes who are making a positive difference for people, animals and the environment. The program started in 1991 with 12 Tanzanian youth who wanted to make a meaningful change in their communities. Join our global family and start making a positive difference for people, animals and the environment.

Roots & Shoots is in 130 countries and there are over 400 Roots & Shoots groups in Canada. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary through the Growing Together campaign for plants, trees and forests. For more information, look at the 4 step process, check out some Roots & Shoots project examples, become a JGI Roots & Shoots School and apply for a Roots & Shoots Grant.

Become a part of a movement of young people (like those in the video) that is making the world a better place.
