In 2008-2009 we will be piloting the Roots & Shoots Canada Youth Council in the Greater Toronto Area. After the first year it will become a Canada-wide initiative. Youth Council members will be selected based on interest and experience and will have the opportunity to participate in regional and national events, team up with Roots & Shoots groups in their area, build on individual goals, and make new friends. Members will have an initial face-to-face meeting Sunday September 28, 2008 in Toronto and will meet three to four times via teleconferencing throughout the year. The Roots & Shoots Train the Trainers program will consist of a two-night weekend course north of Toronto during the weekend of November 28-30, 2008. The training will focus on providing the leadership and facilitation skills, resources, and confidence needed for Trainers to train others in their community on how to deliver presentations, provide information, and conduct other forms of promotion on behalf of Roots & Shoots.
