Beginning with her revolutionary research on chimpanzees, Dr. Jane Goodall has been a conservation icon for over 60 years. But she can’t do this work alone. At the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada, we’re building a better, more sustainable world through community-centred conservation programs that support the intersection of animals, people, and the environment. We’re continuing the work that Jane started in Africa more than 60 years ago. And we’re bringing that work home to the 49th parallel. Join us. And turn hope into action. About Ways to Give What We Do “What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” – Dr. Jane Goodall The 3 Crises Years of being in the jungle taught Dr. Goodall about the “tapestry of life”. Now, we’re facing the convergence of three crises that threaten to tear that tapestry apart. Learn about the 3 crises we’re tackling in Canada and Africa. Climate Change Learn More Biodiversity Loss Learn More Environmental Inequity Learn More Our Work in Africa Jane Goodall’s trailblazing journey began in Tanzania over 60 years ago. Today, that work continues across 34 chimpanzee ecoregions (“Chimpscapes”), and includes animals, people, and the environments they share. Recognizing that all three are connected is the heart of our community-centred approach. Africa Programs Our Work in Canada Our research shows that 80% of Canadians are concerned about biodiversity loss and climate change. So our programs and campaigns work to conserve what is precious about our country, and support an informed citizenry who have hope, and take action. Canada Programs Our Impact Chimpanzees 200+ chimpanzees cared for at our sanctuary in the Republic of Congo. Youth 5k+ young people involved in Roots and Shoots projects in Canada.
