Our Purpose

Inspired by our founder’s legacy of inspiring hope through action, we use community-centred conservation to mobilize action on the convergence of three crises: biodiversity loss, climate change, and environmental inequity in Canada and in “Chimpscape” regions of Africa.

Mission, Vision, and Purpose

Mission

Our mission is to create an informed and compassionate multitude who will help build a better world for people, other animals, and our shared environment.

Vision

We believe in a global population that works together to give back to our home as much as it’s given to us; a community of 7.6 billion people that equitably shares the burdens and gifts of this world. Jane gave us this vision and started this work. The rest is up to us.

Purpose Statement

Inspired by our founder’s legacy of inspiring hope through action, we use community-centred conservation to mobilize action on the convergence of three crises: biodiversity loss, climate change, and environmental inequity in Canada and in “Chimpscape” regions of Africa.

Our Mission in Action

Programs

Action in Canada

Our Roots & Shoots program is supporting a generation of conservation leaders. And we work with Indigenous communities and partners to bring environmental equity to the centre of everything we do.

Programs

Action in Africa

In Africa, we save chimpanzees and their habitats. But importantly, we also support local communities to implement initiatives that protect animals, people, and the environment.

Campaigns

Actions for All

Our national and global campaigns invite everyone to get inspired and take action on important global issues like illegal wildlife trafficking. And our resources give everyone important tools and knowledge to make a difference every day.
