Jane Goodall Asks Edmonton City Council to Transfer “Lucy the Lonely Elephant” from Harsh Winter to Tennessee Sanctuary

Lucy the elephant has lived her life through frigid winters, isolated at the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Dr. Jane Goodall, who has consistently inspired hope around the world for 60 years, has released the above video statement urging Edmonton City Council to take the necessary steps to “free Lucy the lonely elephant”. Her message is consistent with the protections proposed by the Jane Goodall Act recently introduced in the Senate of Canada by Senator Murray Sinclair.

In Canada, there are currently 33 great apes and over 20 elephants in captivity.
With the Jane Goodall Act, we can ensure a safer future for these endangered animals. You can help pass these groundbreaking protections by sending a letter to your government representatives urging them to stand up for captive great apes, elephants, and other animals by supporting the Jane Goodall Act.
