I wanted to share something meaningful I'm taking part in this year.

This October, I'll be joining the Jane Goodall Hike for Hope, raising money for the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada's work protecting chimpanzees and their habitats. I'd be so grateful if you could help me reach my fundraising goal.

With World Chimpanzee Day on July 14th, I wanted to share an example of what your support makes possible.

Her name is Wounda, which means "close to death."

When Wounda arrived at the Jane Goodall Institute's Tchimpounga Sanctuary, she was in critical condition after being rescued from the illegal wildlife trade. She was weak, sick, and needed urgent care.

But the team at Tchimpounga refused to give up on her. With dedicated care from their veterinary team, Wounda received the first-ever chimpanzee-to-chimpanzee blood transfusion and slowly began to recover.

Months later, Wounda was ready to return to the forest. As she stepped toward her new home, she turned back to Jane Goodall and Dr. Rebeca Atencia and pulled them both into a long embrace before disappearing into the trees. Jane called it one of the most treasured moments of her life. You can watch Jane talk about it here.
