Iconic Canadian musician, feminist, mother, advocate, and spreader-of-goodness, Chantal Kreviazuk is joining JGI Canada as our newest Brand Ambassador.

Having first met Dr. Goodall more than two decades ago, Chantal has always been a champion of Jane’s values and vision. We’re so excited to work together to promote more harmony between animals, people, and the environment in Canada and Africa.

Chantal is a platinum-selling, Juno award-winning artist from Winnipeg, with over a billion streams. She’s written songs for Kendrick Lamar, Britney Spears, Joe Cocker, Josh Groban and more, and she has continually spoken up for others, wildlife, and the health of the planet. In 2014, she was made a Member of the Order of Canada.

Chantal will be joining us on our upcoming trip to Uganda, and appearing on stage at a soon-to-be-announced event.

Recently, we chatted with Chantal about the importance of our partnership.

Why is this trip to Uganda so important to you?

It gives me a chance to create a bridge between the daytime life that I live and the greater environment we all share.

Why have you chosen to get involved with JGI Canada?

I’ve been impressed with the consistency and cutting-edge strategies of JGI Canada for nearly two decades. They partner with communities in both Canada and Africa to protect chimpanzees and other endangered wildlife, support local people, and conserve the environments they share – all while connecting the dots for young people here at home. This kind of phenomenal vision and work deserves our deepest attention.

What are you most looking forward to about the upcoming Uganda trip?

The learning I will get as an observer of chimpanzees and the various ongoing projects JGI has. The joy I anticipate being in the these focused environments is not lost on me. I know the time spent with the team and in the presence of chimpanzees, our not-so-distant cousins, will be some of the greatest in my life!

What do you want others to know about the work we’re doing here at JGI Canada?

That JGI Canada is not stopping. The mission is very much on, and the work being done secures chimpanzees futures, all while growing a safer and more peaceful world. We are all connected and there is no better project than this [JGI Canada] to prove the direct correlation between a healthy habitat, peaceful solutions to increasing human populations, and education of the masses. It really is the greatest work and I am so proud to be a part of this profound orchestration.

We know 2023 will be a memorable one for us and Chantal. Expect to hear more about her insights into travelling with JGI Canada and our JGI programs. Stay tuned as we announce more upcoming events with Chantal, and be sure to show her some love @chantalkrev.
