June 14, 2026 “I start each day planning to make a positive difference:” How Bunny Horne turned a deep love of animals into a lifetime of impact Photo: Bunny Horne “I have loved animals since I can remember – not unlike Jane.” For Bunny Horne, those words are the thread running through a lifetime of compassion. Years ago, when she went to one of Dr. Jane’s inspiring lectures in Vancouver, Bunny was moved: “She touched my heart and soul deeply.” Her unwavering dedication to Dr. Jane and her mission is reflected in the remarkable breadth of Bunny’s support for the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada. As a monthly donor, Bunny is part of Team Goodall – providing the Institute with the reliable financial foundation needed to plan ahead and keep our mission moving forward every month. Year after year, Bunny has used her crafting talents to create memorable items for our Online Birthday Auction, helping us raise funds for our projects and programs. Bunny has chosen to include the Institute in her estate plans, too, joining our Legacy Troop. This kind of forward-thinking generosity ensures that our work can continue for generations. Bunny’s commitment has extended into her everyday life, too. In 2024, the month after she saw Dr. Jane deliver another one of her uplifting lectures in Vancouver, Bunny was inspired. She prepared the community gardens at her local seniors’ kitchen for planting – and she use the Institute’s plantable greeting card for her own garden. And when Dr. Jane passed, Bunny had the iconic figure’s autograph tattooed onto her wrist. “I look at it multiple times a day,” she told our team. “It is a reminder for me to make a difference in the world, and I start each day planning to make a positive difference.” Every year, every month, and every day, Bunny proves – just like Dr. Jane did – that one person’s love for animals and the planet can indeed change the world. Thank you, Bunny, for your tremendous generosity and kindness. We’re grateful for you and all who are part of our remarkable community.
