Working in villages alongside chimpanzee habitats, JGI Canada projects improve the lives of local people while simultaneously saving wildlife. By engaging local communities, villagers benefit from conservation efforts and are less dependent on forest resources.
Uncovering Common Ground
JGI Canada is collaborating with First Nations communities and universities in three provinces to bring together Indigenous and non-Indigenous young people from across Canada.
International Aboriginal Youth Internships
This initiative offers Indigenous youth in Canada the opportunity to gain professional experience through international development work in the Masaka District of Uganda.
Delivering Healthy Futures
In collaboration with 20 villages in rural eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, we are addressing priority needs to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates so that people there can live healthy and sustainable lives.
In western Uganda, our Sustainable Livelihoods project improved the health, wellbeing and livelihoods of hundreds of families living in 7 villages while simultaneously conserving and restoring nearby habitat for wild chimpanzees.
