Are you ready?

Let’s turn hope into bold action. Let’s inspire, support, and encourage one another. Let’s build an incredible community of changemakers – right here on the University of Toronto campus.

Join Roots & Shoots to make an impact on campus – and beyond!

Dr. Jane started Roots & Shoots more than 30 years ago, when she sat down with young leaders from Tanzania and saw that they wanted to shape the future and change the world – and she knew they could! – but they didn’t know where to start.

Today, Roots & Shoots is active in more than 75 countries. More than 14,000 young people across Canada are actively involved in Roots & Shoots projects, and more than 80,000 community members are positively impacted each year.

From school gardens to composting programs to informative workshops, Roots & Shoots projects are creating real change across the country and around the world.

Want to join other young people – and those who are young at heart – to take on these kinds of service projects and community-led conservation initiatives? Sign up with the form here, and we’ll connect you with the resources you need to get started!

Roots creep underground everywhere and make a firm foundation. Shoots seem very weak but, to reach the light, they can break open brick walls. Imagine that the brick walls are all the problems we have inflicted on our planet. Hundreds of thousands of roots and shoots, hundreds of thousands of young people around the world, can break through these walls. We can change the world.
