In the Democratic Republic of Congo where we work, 1 in 7 children dies before reaching the age of 5 and 1 out of every 144 women dies while giving birth. Working with 20 communities in chimp range landscapes, we are building maternal health clinics where staff are trained to keep mothers and babies alive and healthy. With improved training as well as family planning services, we anticipate that women will have more control over their reproductive rights, population growth will decrease, and pressure on forest resources will be reduced.
$250 provides neonatal and obstetric training for 5 health centres.
