A.P.E. Fund Caring for K9s Winnipeg, Manitoba The students have recognized the need to support rural northern First Nations communities with canine and feline over population. We are collaborating with another class in our school to create art and host an art show to raise funds and awareness to support the local rescue, K9 Advocates Manitoba. The Grade 3/4 class will start a school wide, indoor composting campaign to reduce the amount of food scraps that end up in the landfills.Using Foodcyclers, they will educate the entire school on how the machine works and what items they can put in it. Our youngest students will learn about how important bees, butterflies and other pollinators are! They will use their knowledge to teach the rest of the school why they should consider helping them with their project and planting flowers at their own homes. View project Environmental Inequity (People) The students will plant and build a natural shelter made with bendable live branches of willow trees. This will be place close to the first nation garden build last year. The students will plant small willow trees. The tall branches will be bent and shaped into a shelter looking like a longhouse. The idea is to build a longhouse next to the first nation garden that the students build last year and the pine tree (the peace tree of the Iroquoiens) that was planted. View project
