A.P.E. Fund INDIGENOUS COMMUNITY GARDEN Victoria, British Columbia Our school is located on the traditional land and territory of Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations. We want to have Indigenous plants to be visible so when Nation members come to the school there is a familiarity in the seeing Indigenous plants. We currently have over 40 gardens across the Niagara Region. This year we hope to increase our intergenerational native gardens by setting up our team of youth with interested seniors and plant pollinator gardens for them. Our youngest students will learn about how important bees, butterflies and other pollinators are! They will use their knowledge to teach the rest of the school why they should consider helping them with their project and planting flowers at their own homes. View project Environmental Inequity (People) From Our Garden Your Garden Classrooms in our school will plant and grow corn, bean, and squash (the 3 sisters) plants to learn more about indigenous gardening. We will also include some herbs plants that are native to our area. These plants will then be offered to school families to be planted in their home gardens. View project
