A.P.E. Fund Kwalikum Secondary School Garden Club Qualicum Beach, British Columbia Our school garden space is barely back on its feet. We have started some crops, but we do not have funds to continue on for this next year. We plan to use the funds to purchase seeds, berry bushes, and a load of soil to fill our beds. We would love to bring some hydroponic growers into their classrooms to build on their interest in growing vegetables and to continue to encourage them to try fresh grown produce. Past and present wisdom and food practices can teach us how to cultivate diverse food ecosystems for the present and the future. We have already started a garden space in elevated boxes in our school building – we had funds to plants for our climate in one of them. This year we could like to expand/finish our project by building more boxes and planting native species to Alberta that help a healthy bee population flourish. View project
