A.P.E. Fund Land back: Language & Native plants Winnipeg/Treaty 1, Manitoba Our learners noticed that many of the plants in our park are non-native to our area. They identified a need to learn the Cree, Ojibwe, and Dene names for the plants in our park, as well as plant more of the native species. They are now seeking Indigenous language learning indoors and out! It is critically important to transform how we think, communicate, and how we engage with the rest of the world. An issue I am addressing is food security, by hosting workshops I hope to educate and inspire View project Climate Change (Environment) Diverting our School’s Food Waste from Landfills The intention of this project is to bring green bins to each classroom in the school, in order to more effectively divert food waste from landfills. The green bin program will be a great addition to our existing blue and grey bin recycling program at the school. View project Biodiversity Loss (Animals), Climate Change (Environment), Environmental Inequity (People) Butterfly Gardens On Treaty 1 land, students will create Butterfly Gardens by planting and caring for indigenous plants, native prairie shrubs, grasses and wildflowers.
