A.P.E. Fund Understanding our Place Blairmore, Alberta Students will build an understanding of our ‘place’ with respect to the interconnectedness of the ecology, culture and economy in southern Alberta. This study will examine the development of our place using these 3 dimensions from our past, present and into the future. They will continue their inquiry and research habitats that are friendly to pollinators. We plan to purchase garden boxes to place in our parking lot to create a pollinator habitat. View project Biodiversity Loss (Animals), Climate Change (Environment), Environmental Inequity (People) Communities of the Future: Growing Sustainable Food Together Working with the two grade six classes, we will be participating in the Brilliant Labs The Community of the Future Innovation Challenge! This will inspire our students to explore their empathy and ingenuity to realize how our environment can impact a community’s wellness, economy and longevity. View project Biodiversity Loss (Animals), Climate Change (Environment) Chicken habitat and permaculture 7th graders want to help improve the soil in our region. This project will help fund a chicken coop. Chickens will reduce school food scraps and produce compost for gardening. Parts of our lawn will be replaced with compost, native flowers(permaculture).
