The Jane Goodall Institute of Canada Supports Women as Leaders of Community Development Donate Now Climate change is inescapable. And its impacts disproportionately affect women. But women are adaptable and resilient, and they’re taking action. Agriculture, forestry, health, housing, and fragile ecosystems across the Democratic Republic of the Congo have been affected by climate change. This means that adaptation to, and mitigation of, the impacts of climate change are incredibly urgent issues. Fortunately, women are coming together to create lasting change – contributing to the conservation and restoration of natural spaces, working to become more resilient to climate change, and leading community development initiatives. The Jane Goodall Institute of Canada is supporting this work, but we can’t do that without you. What We're Doing Femmes en Action Through this project, women and communities are accessing resources to become more resilient to climate change and its impacts. Women and young girls are contributing to forest conservation, particularly by integrating nature-based solutions. Women are participating in agricultural, literacy, and leadership strengthening activities. And so much more. 4,500 women are expected to have been part of agricultural, literacy, and leadership strengthening activities by the end of the project – and 4,000 hectares of natural spaces are expected to be conserved or restored. This work is driven by community members, and benefits community members. We’re supporting these women and girls as they take on this work, and we’re collaborating with local partners to ensure they have the tools they need and can continue to be leaders.
