Canada Programs Youth Advisory Council Jane has always believed in the power of young people. They give her hope. Today, they’re more connected, informed, and equipped to save our planet than any generation before them. So, it’s no surprise that youth leadership is at the heart of the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada. Youth Advisory Council members sit on a variety of committees, run their own self-directed initiatives, and provide input on everything from programs to communications. New applicants are selected every year and can serve up to two years on the Council. They are not the leaders of tomorrow. They are leading change today. And we are incredibly proud of all of them. The Council in Action They’re Engaging With Leaders In 2020, the Youth Advisory Council connected with Elizabeth May, the Leader of the Green Party of Canada, to discuss climate justice and Bill C-12. You can watch parts of their conversation here. They’re Inspiring Their Peers Their “What’s in My Backyard?” webinars encouraged thousands of young people to get outdoors and learn more about their surroundings. You can watch their webinar series here. They’re Educating People They created an awareness campaign about Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas, in collaboration with several Indigenous communities. You can read their posts here.
