Every card planted cultivates real-world impact. Your contribution supports our conservation and education programs, from restoring habitats across the country to partnering with communities who are taking climate action.
James Morden Public School, a school in Ontario, received funding to build two new raised garden beds. Students learned about climate change and biodiversity loss, and then took action by expanding the school garden. They planted native plants, many of them being species at risk – creating space for native plants and animals to thrive, and igniting a passion for science in many students.
On Georgian Bay, the Bagida’waad Alliance helped local youth learn about GIS mapping blended with oral history of Neyaashiinigmiing. They studied harmful changes in forest spread, ice coverage, and water levels. By combining scientific methods with traditional knowledge, the youth could propose community-centred solutions to the climate effects.
In Senegal’s Kedougou region, people are faced with more frequent floods, drought, and soil erosion. Adama lives in Pelel, an especially dry area, where water availability is inadequate for half the year and food intake must be reduced. One of the ways Adama and other women farmers are taking action is by producing and selling fonio, a drought-resistant crop. By introducing fonio husking machines, they’re now able to complete 1 week of work in 20 minutes.
